FMS receives real-time data, relayed through the Iridium network at its Network Operations Center (NOC) in San Luis Obispo, California. The FMS back-end, known as Fleet Director Global, allows enterprise users to conveniently log onto a hosted Internet portal to retrieve and interpret information about their assets. Performance and ScalabilityFMS servers are state-of-the-art Intel equipment and built to withstand any single point of failure, utilizing RAID drives, dual Intel processors and redundant power supplies. The FMS database, Web, map, and development servers are constantly monitored for network and application load balancing and are sized accordingly. The FMS network is currently capable of supporting more than 100,000 subscribers simultaneously accessing the system without degradation in speed or accuracy. FMS’ strategy is to continuously upgrade its network equipment every 180 days in order to ensure its ability to support the current subscriber load as well as the number of expected subscribers six months in the future. |
